Pricing & billing

All billing runs through Shopify — we never see your card details. Pricing is in USD; Shopify converts to your store currency on the invoice.

1. Plans & what's included

Tier Price Locations Best for
Starter $9.99 / mo 1 Single shop, full feature set
Pro $19.99 / mo Up to 3 Multi-counter shops, priority support
Enterprise $39.99 / mo + $5/extra 5+, additional metered Chains, épiceries with multiple sites, Slack channel

Every tier includes the full feature set — voice, multi-cart, AI tare, offline mode, every scale type, FR + EN. We don't paywall the moat. The price difference is locations + support level.

2. The 14-day free trial

Every new install gets a 14-day free trial. No credit card required to start. The trial gives full access; nothing is degraded vs. the paid version.

  • The trial clock starts the day you install Snaptare from the Shopify App Store.
  • You'll get a reminder email 3 days before the trial ends, and a "trial ends today" prompt in-app.
  • If you don't subscribe before day 14, the paid features stop. Drafts in flight aren't lost — they remain on the device. You can subscribe and resume anytime.

3. Founder Circle refund

The first 100 Snaptare merchants are eligible for the Founder Circle: a one-time refund of the first month's subscription in exchange for a recorded 20-minute feedback call with the founders.

  • Eligibility is first-come, first-served. We'll show "X seats remaining" in the app at sign-up.
  • You subscribe normally (Shopify charges your card via your normal Shopify billing). Once we record the call, we issue a refund through Shopify within 7 days.
  • The call is recorded for our internal use only — never published, never used in marketing without your explicit go-ahead.
  • Topics covered: what works, what's broken, what you wish existed, what other Shopify pain you'd pay to fix.

To apply: subscribe normally; the in-app onboarding banner offers the slot. Or email [email protected] with subject "Founder Circle".

4. Switching tiers

From your Shopify admin → Apps → Snaptare → Plan, pick the new tier. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle. Shopify pro-rates the difference per their billing rules.

You can also switch in-app: Settings → Plan. The button kicks you out to Shopify's plan-change flow (Shopify's own flow, by their rules).

5. Cancelling

From your Shopify admin → Apps → Snaptare → Uninstall. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We don't pro-rate refunds for partial months unless your jurisdiction's law requires it.

On uninstall:

  • Shopify sends us the app/uninstalled webhook + the shop/redact compliance webhook.
  • We hard-delete your store's data within 7 days (see privacy §7).
  • Local data on your tablet (catalog cache, drafts) clears the next time the app boots.

6. How taxes flow through Shopify

Snaptare uses Shopify's tax engine — we never compute taxes ourselves. The mechanic:

  1. You set tax rates per product in Shopify Admin → Settings → Taxes & duties (Shopify's normal flow).
  2. When a sale finalizes, Snaptare creates a Shopify Draft Order with a custom line item referencing the source product variant. This is the canonical Shopify pattern.
  3. Shopify applies the variant's tax flags to the custom line item. The receipt and your tax reports show the tax exactly as if it were a normal Shopify sale.
Why this matters: a competitor (Weyify) creates a fresh product variant per weighing. Shopify's tax engine wasn't designed for that — variants spawned mid-transaction can lose their tax classification. Snaptare doesn't do that. Your taxes stay correct.

7. Where the card goes

Shopify is the merchant of record. Your card details go to Shopify's billing system; we never see them. We receive billing events (subscribed, charge succeeded, charge failed, cancelled) via Shopify's billing API and update our records accordingly.

If a charge fails (expired card, etc.), Shopify retries automatically per their normal cadence and dunning policy. We don't do separate dunning.
